The Anatomy of Prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

“This, then, is how you should pray:
“Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one...."

How should we pray? We can pray the Lord's prayer, but the Lord's prayer is also a template, a great instruction on how to form our prayers:

1 - Give praise to God - “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,...." Give a loving and respectful greeting to your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Our greeting should show our gratitude and reverence to our Father in Heaven.

2 - Show our allegiance to His will - "your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven..." Our priorities should be according to His will in our lives and not our own, express your hope for peace and heaven on earth, as you live according to His word.

3 - Make your requests known to God - "Give us today our daily bread..." Now speak about our requests for healing, for financial breakthroughs, whatever is in your heart and speak with faith, knowing that your request will be heard and answered

4. Ask for forgiveness - "And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors..." Now that you have given your requests, you should also confess any issues you may have and ask for forgiveness, also speak forgiveness over others who may have hurt you or did wrong against you and mean it with all of your heart. The Lord states in His word that we must forgive others, even love our enemies because the Lord forgives us and loves everyone, even those who refuse to believe in Him. We are to live our lives like Jesus lived His, and we are to let the Holy Spirit change our hearts so that we can forgive others and ourselves. Forgiveness is essential for your prayers to be effective. Seek the Lord in this issue and pray for the ability to forgive in every situation.

5. Ask For Protection from Evil - "And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one...." ask for this type of protection for yourself, your family, your friends and coworkers, even pray for those who you do not know that you hear are in dangerous situations, your brothers and sisters in Christ all over the world who need your prayers just to survive from day to day, and the Lord will answer with great power and authority. Don't forget to pray for the strength to live in righteousness and for the power to give what you have so that others may know the Lord Jesus Christ for themselves......

Remember to pray without ceasing and to keep on declaring the works of the Lord!
